Protecting Marriage, Inc. was founded in 1992 to

help lower the divorce rate in the United States, the world's

highest rate of marital dissolution. Its volunteers are dedicated

to the nation's public interest in stable families, durable

marriages, and a strong social structure.

The organization provides public education on divorce

and marriage policy, encourages legislation that

strengthens marriage, and supports research on institutional

factors which contribute to family fragmentation. Its

guiding belief is that the primary disincentive to divorce

rests on the state's obligation to restore Constitutional

principles of justice in the enactment and application

of all laws pertaining to marriage, divorce and

the protection of children.™
